Childhood (SOLD)
Childhood is inspired by the things you find in a child’s pocket. The little bits are from my collection. A piece of coral from Wake Island (I stopped there in the Air Force), fossils from different trips to the great lakes and a piece of wood worn down like a rock. There are two WWII OPI Ration Token Coins that were my grandmothers. They are in great condition, they were stored in a small envelope until I incorporated them in the sculpture. They are stuck on with double sided tape so not destroy them. They are rare and worth about 10.00 each. The box is an old drawer from a sewing machine table. There is still an old brass thread spindle in one of the slots. In the box is my first clay pinch pot I made when I was about 5 years old. A tiny pumpkin teapot I bought when I saw the Beatrix Potter exhibit at the Smithsonian in the 1980’s and on top is a dragon created from kiln firing cones. The oil painting is on board my sister and I on a tile swing. Up in the right top corner is a needle point and a wood burning or a Butterfly, with the words “Still Becoming”
Dimension: 18”x18”

I like to give my employees appreciation gifts during the holidays. The money trees are fun to give knowing they are one of a kind. I appreciated the fact they are made by a local artist in Georgia.
